NOVEMBER 2008
Welcome to the latest issue of ReporterBase News, your connection to developments in the ReporterBase family of applications and services.
What’s new this month for Team RB
If you are looking for something to do this month, we have a few suggestions: Sign up to beta test an upcoming service. Tell us your real-life RB user stories. Get up to speed with the latest version of RB 8 in November training.
New PDF service
Looking for beta testers
As announced at the Team RB conference last month, OMTI will be providing a new service next year, a digital signature solution for transcripts, and we are currently looking for beta testers.
This new service, RB Digital Signature Proxy, enables your production department to automatically apply a reporter’s digital signature to the correct RB-PDF transcript with a single click inside RB8 — no going to a 3rd-party website, no accessing a reporter’s user ID or password, no chance of applying the wrong signature to a transcript — RB handles it all for you.
Plus, it gives reporters the ability to monitor your use of their digital signatures. Through a secure website, they can access a usage log that automatically lists every time their signature was used, by whom, and on which transcript.
We are in the final months of developing this service and are currently looking for court reporting firms to help us test it in the real world. We are looking for a range of companies to test and give us feedback about this service. As with all RB products and services, we value our clients’ input and want to use it to improve our offerings.
If you and your company are willing to devote some time to learn about and use RB Digital Signature Proxy for the next 2 months, while providing us with ongoing feedback about it, please contact yong@omti.com.

RB users
Do you have a story to tell?
If you have attended a recent Team RB conference, read our user articles on this website, or read our ads in the JCR earlier this year, you’ve encountered real-life stories from RB users about how RB helps them run their business, provide services to clients and reporters, market their business, even save the planet.
Based on the feedback we’ve received, people like yourself find this information invaluable. And the participants and their businesses have benefited too from the free publicity generated by the ads and events. Now it could be your turn.
We plan to do another series of ads featuring real-life RB users and their stories, which would help other RB users get more out of their RB system to run their businesses more effectively. We are also looking for RB users to give presentations at our 2009 Team RB conference in San Francisco.
If you are interested in sharing what you know, tell us how you use RB to give your business an edge in today’s marketplace. We are especially interested in hearing about ways you use RB Web to be effective and succeed. Plus we are interested in any stories you have about using some of the latest features in RB8, such as Resource Blast, or “off label” ways you push RB8 to work for your business that people can’t find in our manuals or other materials.
Send an email to RB Sales summarizing what you could share with other RB users. Who knows? You could be the next RB user immortalized with a portrait by OMTI’s creative director!

RB8 webinars
November webinars include RB 8.4 features
Learn how to use the two main modules in RB8, Calendar and Billing, by attending RB8 webinars this month. Webinars are great for new users and old – they cover the recommended way to use these modules to get the most out of them, plus new features, such as Resource Blast and Quick Assignments.
The two November 75-minute webinars are:
((1) Calendar, scheduled for 10AM (CST) on 11/4.
(2) Production & Billing, scheduled for 10AM (CST) on 11/6.
Space is limited, and you must reserve your place for each session. The deadline to sign up for a webinar is 72 hours before its scheduled time. Webinars cost $25/session/connection, payable in advance.
After registering and paying, all you will need to attend a webinar is your computer, Internet connection and phone. Webinars are not hands-on training, so you do not need to connect every staffer who is attending training if they can share a screen (perhaps via a projector for larger groups) and a speaker phone.
Webinars in December are scheduled for 12/9 (Calendar) and 12/11 (Production/Billing).
For more information, visit the training area or contact RB Sales. To sign up for webinars, use our online registration form.
