Creating .label templates
RB9 only
If you have the discontinued DYMO Label Web Service already installed on your computer, you can create .label templates to use with your DYMO printer.
Continued from Creating DYMO label templates.
- Launch the DYMO software.
- In the Design and Print Labels window, click Labels.
- Select the label type for your template by clicking the label graphic that matches the dimensions and set-up of the DYMO labels you want to print.
- Different layout styles appear in the Select Layout pane. Click the option that works best for you, or select the blank option at the bottom to create your template from scratch.
- The label selected appears on the right side of the screen. To:
- Edit or add text to existing label fields: Click in the field and highlight text to change if necessary, then enter text.
- Delete a label field: Click anywhere inside the field to select it, then click Edit > Delete or press Delete on your keyboard.
- Add custom text or images, such as your company logo: Click Insert at the top-left of the window, then double-click an item in the Label Objects list or drag it over to the label to add it to the template.
TIP: Adding your company logo to a template
To customize a label template with your company logo, left-click Image in the Label Objects list and hold the button down on your mouse. Then drag it onto the label template on the right of the screen and release. The Image Object Properties window appears. For Image source selection, check File, then click Browse. Select your logo and click Open. You will then see a preview of the logo you selected. Click OK to add the logo. Once the logo is added to the label, you can resize it by using your left mouse button to click on one of the squares and drag the logo to the desired size.
- Check that your template will work with RB9. If you are using a:
- Default label style: Right-click the [address] field > Properties. In the Address Object Properties window, click the Advanced tab. The word, Address, should appear in the Reference name field. “Address” is the link to have RB9 merge the address onto the label.
- Blank label style: If you are adding your own text box instead of using a predefined layout/address field, be sure you add the word, Address, to the Object Properties of the text box you create.
- When you’re done creating the label template, click File > Save As to save it on your computer. Remember where you saved the file so you can find it to add to your RB9 Label Templates function. To upload your label template to RB9, see Managing label templates.
