Assembling transcript packages
RB9 only
Use the Transcript Packages function to create interactive transcripts designed to work on a variety of devices.
Find ASCII file to convert
To search for an ASCII file to convert to a transcript package, see Searching transcript packages.
Create package
- Click the radio button of the ASCII file you want to assemble a package for, then click Create. (Files without radio buttons are previously created transcript packages.)
- In the New Transcript Package window, the information in the File Info pane is uneditable. If you would like to download a copy of the ASCII file selected, click
next to File Name.
Attach files
- Any related exhibit files appear in the Exhibits pane. To automatically add exhibits to the package, check the File Name box in the pane header. Uncheck any individual file’s boxes that you do not want to include in the package.
- Any related video files appear in the Videos pane. To automatically add videos to the package, check the File Name box in the pane header. Uncheck any individual file’s boxes that you do not want to include in the package.
- Any related other files, such as the original ASCII file or RB-PDF Transcripts, appear in the Other Files pane. To automatically add these files to the package, check the File Name box in the pane header. Uncheck any individual file’s boxes that you do not want to include in the package.
NOTE: Supporting files must be published with access for contacts
Like transcripts, only exhibits, videos, and other files that are set to Publish with an Access Type of ALL or Contacts and Office will be available to add to transcript packages. See Viewing & updating repository file details.
Finish package
- Click Save.
- RB9 processes the package and opens the Edit Transcript Package window. See Editing transcript packages.
IMPORTANT: Files must be identified correctly
Transcript packages are created using the original ASCII text or page-image file. Only ASCII files that have been designated as ASCII in the File Type drop-down when uploaded to the Witness Repository will appear in the New Transcript Package search results grid. (See Updating witnesses and Uploading files to a repository.) If you used a different name (such as Transcript) for this type of file, change the File Type name to ASCII using the Merge To function in Lists. See Merging data.
Similarly, only files with the File Type of Exhibit and Video will appear in Transcript Packages’ Exhibits and Video panes, so if you have used a different file type for these files, use Merge To to give them the proper file type.
