Setting security group permissions
An important security feature of RB9 is the ability to limit security groups to accessing specific functions plus performing only the actions which you assign them. Set security group access and permissions first, then add users to the groups.
Continued from Managing groups or Creating groups.
- In the Users and Groups window, with Security Groups selected, click the hyperlinked Group Name of the security group you want to manage.
- In the View Security Group window, click Edit.
- The Accessibilty pane lists all RB9 functions.
- Check a function’s Access box to allow members of the group to access the function.
- Uncheck a function’s Access box to block group members from the function. The function will not appear in the security group members’ RB9.
- Give group members the ability to use accessible functions by checking their Edit & Delete boxes.
- If an accessible function’s checkbox is blank, users can view the function but not update its contents.
- If a function does not have an Edit & Delete box, users can use it if they are granted access to it.
NOTE: Changes take affect after logging back into RB9
If access or permission changes affect you, you must log out and log back in to update your security group privileges.
- After setting group permissions, add users to the group. See Adding or deleting group members.
