Production highlights
How is production different in MR9 from MR8? If you know MR8, this section highlights the changes in MR9 from MR8 in the Production module.
Simplified turn-in
Instead of facing a 4-pane window full of buttons and grids when you prepare an order for invoicing, the new turn-in process starts with the essentials, then reveals additional steps as you progress through Turn In.
Simplified turn-in means:
- Less errors: You won’t overlook important steps in turn-in due to information overload.
- Quicker turn-in: Less second-guessing the process since you are lead through it automatically.
- Easier training: New process is less confusing to understand and master.
New turn-in features
In addition to simplifying the turn-in process, we added some new features to make it more convenient and faster.
The first step, adding records, includes some new time-saving features:
- Quicker file upload: You can click and drag files from your desktop to the repository. Then select a description for the file from a list instead of entering it from scratch.
- Party email field: You do not have to go into a separate function to send contacts alerts about uploaded repository files.
The next step, calculating invoices, speeds up your work process even more:
- Set rates directly: In MR9 you assign billing rates to contacts in their listings or as parties to an order. If you want to apply a different billing rate table to an invoice in Turn In, you can select billing rates in a fly-out panel to the side of the invoice — instead of opening additional windows on top of the invoice that obscure the invoice’s details.
- Customizable service list: If you have multiple service items for a part you can enter them in any order, then shuffle their order to appear differently on the invoice.
Shipping separated from Turn In
MR8 introduced the capability to create labels and track UPS and FedEx shipments without leaving the application. Unfortunately, you also can’t leave Turn In. Even if you just want to track a shipment, you have to do it through Turn In in MR8.
MR9 eliminates this unnecessary step. You don’t create shipping labels in Turn In in MR9. Shipping is its own separate Production function. MR9 Shipping has all the functionality it had in MR8, but now you can create labels and track shipments quicker because you don’t have to go through several levels to get to a job’s Shipment window.
Searchable shipping
Having a separate Shipping function means that you can search for a shipment in MR9. Search by order number (and part number optionally) or invoice number, shipping date, delivery method, and/or business unit to quickly locate a shipment to track or to create a new shipment with the same order, record, and invoice information.
You can still create labels from within Turn In — we didn’t remove that convenience — we just eliminated the need to always go through Turn In to access Shipping.
Update part status here
Another added convenience in this new function is that if your billing department does not invoice an order until it has shipped, you can change a part’s status from Turned In to Shipped here and your billing department will receive an automatic alert. This simple change can help you invoice clients quicker so you get paid quicker.
Combine or separate shipments
MR9’s Shipping function adds the ability to include or exclude service items that were billed on one invoice but are for multiple records. You simply check boxes for records whose service items you are shipping this time. This way you can easy ship produced items by record or bundled into one shipment.
Functions renamed, moved, or removed
- Productivity Analysis is renamed Tracking Productivity Analysis in MR9.
